The Christian Science Monitor

The Christian Science Monitor is a 24/7 news website with a global readership. The Monitor also publishes a weekly news magazine, which includes both material unique to the print product and stories that also appear on the Monitor’s website. The Monitor offers a highly selective internship program.

All internships require applicants to be Mother Church members and proficient in MS Office programs, including MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Opportunities may include:

  • Writing short items for the paper or website
  • Research
  • Assisting the photo and graphics departments
  • Learning the everyday office-management practices
  • At the discretion of the editors, interns can assist with editing and contacting correspondents and contributors, as well as reporting their own stories
  • May help with special projects

Desired Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a college major relevant to news publishing
  • Multi-media experience such as flash/action and audio/video-editing skills are a significant plus
  • Devotion to accuracy and an eye for detail
  • Self-motivated
  • Knowledge of news industry, current trends, Internet, use of social media, etc

  • 9 weeks or more
