Jenny Roemer

Jenny Roemer - Staff Editor, Christian Science Sentinel

Staff Editor, Christian Science Sentinel

One of the things I love about writing is that sometimes you start off with one idea, and then end up with something entirely different! It really is an artistic process. I guess it’s kind of like life. After graduating from college, I spent some years trying different kinds of jobs. I was an administrative assistant, copy editor for the circus (no joke), marketing coordinator, and lived in a few different cities on the East Coast of the US. Now I’m back in Boston, for the second time, and working for the Christian Science Sentinel. Who knew the path would lead here? As a staff editor, it’s fun to be able to work with you on teen and twenty–something articles for the magazine. I’d love to hear any ideas you have and look forward to talking or e–mailing with you!

Suzanne Smedley

Suzanne Smedley - Christian Science Publishing Society

Staff Editor, The Christian Science Journal

After teaching for six years, including a year in Spain and two years at an international school in Germany, I wanted a change. Although I loved my students, I had a deep desire to be of greater service to the world. I thought maybe I’d look into working for an international development organization. Shortly after returning to the US, I unexpectedly landed a job at the Christian Science Publishing Society. I first worked on El Heraldo de la Ciencia Cristiana radio, which reaches Spanish–speakers around the world with the healing message of Christian Science, then as an editor on the Sentinel magazine—and now on the Journal staff. I often ask myself, “What better international development organization could I be working for?”

Leide Lessa

Managing Editor, The Herald

In my heart I feel like a teenager still… Sunday School was such a safe haven for me, where I could share my insights, doubts, fears, dreams, and always find a spiritual answer, purpose, solution, and goal. There's nothing better than to learn that God knows no limits. That led me to move from Brazil to Vienna, Austria, when I was 18, without knowing any foreign language. My dream was to study music and languages and that was the door God opened for me. After 3 years, I came to the US, spent a few months with a wonderful family, and went to an awesome youth meeting at The Mother Church. Back in Brazil, I started teaching Sunday School, helped organize many youth meetings, became so involved with my 9 nieces and nephews, and had a great time at college and graduate school. And today I have lots of fun editing articles and testimonies for The Herald published in 13 languages… I hope your experiences come my way sometime!
