    Dear Greg,

Thanks for writing and expressing your concern - it’s good to be able to gently talk these things through.

I actually didn’t notice the way Mark was sitting until you mention it here, so it didn’t bother me. I think people’s thoughts about how to sit will definitely depend on where they are in the world and the setting of their class. I know some people who feel very comfortable and relaxed sitting with their legs crossed - some teeny tots, some teens, and some beyond that. I know others who can’t or are uncomfortable sitting that way, so they don’t.

I think the most important thing for a teacher to do in Sunday School is to help everyone feel loved and comfortable when they are in class. Mark and his class looked pretty comfortable to me.

When someone has a concern, certainly it can be raised, along with the reasons for the concern. After prayer on the part of everyone directly involved, I’m sure they can find an answer appropriate to the situation. And I would trust that those not directly involved would affirm that God will inspire those involved and graciously adjust any situation if necessary.

Love and thanks to you, Susie
