Wow! What a great highlight video! Being a native Midwesterner myself, I just wanted to say that all of you Christian Scientists out there who live in the middle somewhere (or maybe not even in the U.S.), whether you live in the Mountain states, the the Southwest, the Plains States, the South, the Midwest — you really are important as thinkers and as well-rounded people. I know the major cultural influences often seem to come from the coasts, both East and West. But some of the best thinkers and “doers” live in the middle too! And when I was growing up in the Midwest, I often literally felt like I was “in the middle,” — feeling (and trying to understand) the influences of cultural values that are strongly held as part of the identities of those who live in the South, the West or the Eastern U.S. Some of us might live in smaller towns or in places that are more spread out from a larger population of other Christian Scientists — but that certainly doesn’t take away from how important we each are as thinkers, and the impact we each are making both locally and globally by contributing to our communities of friends, family, churches, schools, and others organizations. All of these contributions are valuable and help us better understand and build upon our own unique skills. Keep up the good work everyone!! :-)

The music used in this summit video is aweful - who choses the music for these slideshows? Especially that opening track is particularly terrible and it sets a very dry tone for an otherwise exciting event. More modern music in these videos would go a long way.

Well you certainly bring up some good points. This isn’t always clear but each Summit is locally initiated, locally run, and locally funded (all the lectures). So each local Summit committee chooses their own musicians and then we incorporate this music into the slideshow.

I’d say if you have some good ideas on music and on how to reduce local costs, you might consider pulling a group together to do your own Summit. Many of the best ideas have come from the field and it sounds like you may have some useful insights.

Feel free to be in touch with me any time about how you can get involved and implement your ideas for your community.

Such an originality and … a calm yet strong current of Spirit are both present in the music - I loved it! (googled Clark Wheeler, right away.)

Thanks for the local Summit committee for the unique choice. It stood out to me :)
