Does CS heal? I can say it does!
I was at this lecture given by John. As I sat down to listen, I was suffering with a horrible headache. Had been suffering all day. The pain vanished as I listened.
Give this wonderful talk a listen. You too will be blessed.
Great hoop and bucket illustration that helps explain the truth of being. And, very effective examples of how the three elements of prayer heal. I’m certainly glad I took the time to listen.
Of course it does! Everyday there is proof that God heals! I have had many healings over the years. I just let God do all the work I just listen. Simple.
Shock jock Johnnie!
From severe drug use and peddling to spiritual healer! What can’t God do?
My difficulty with this podcast is that first I attended a lecture by this lecturer on this same subject with my dad. I thought it was excellent. Then, I read an article on this same subject by this lecturer in the Sentinel and said to myself “He didn’t tell us anything about his illicit drug use in the lecture.” The article didn’t even reveal that the lecturer was selling drugs even though I had my suspicions. Then to hear this podcast makes me think the Christian Science movement is afraid to tell the “truth” but will give only the partial truth for certain audiences.
In no way does this alter my feeling and reliance on Christian Science. But I do think one has to be careful when one hears talks and testimonies on Christian Science.

It doesn’t sound like you’re saying the man was lying, though. He just told different aspects of his story at different times. And life’s like that. I know I’ve gone through complicated experiences, but if something comes up in a conversation that reminds me of one thing I learned or went through, I’ll share that, but not the whole long thing.
Also, maybe he wasn’t completely ready to share all this with everyone and then something changed in him. That’s legitimate.
I disagree with the legimacy of the “variations” in stories. I’m sure others would agree with me. As a teenager, I want my parents to know what I’m learning in school, Sunday School, and other places. My parents and I have a very close relationship. Perhaps, the speaker was afraid of his background, but he needs to understand in Christian Science we know how to forgive. I think that’s why there is this special forum for Youth so that we can discuss topics they may be uncomfortable talking to others about. But when something goes “really” wrong, just think how bad their parents feel when they find out the child never talked to them about this. I’ve seen this happen too many times. So, I’d like to see CS speakers let it all out. If they don’t feel comfortable, they really are the ones who need to be praying for healing.
i think you’re missing the point, yuther. i don’t think the lecture is story driven. the lecture is sharing ideas about christian science — what it is, what it does. the story is only there as an illustration.
and i don’t understand the part about the parents. most drug users keep the fact that that’s what they are from their parents. but i think you’re making a big leap to assume that john is ashamed of his past just because he only shared a portion of his story in one lecture.
thanks for this inspiering pod-cast John it has help me to be grateful for all I have and for the gift of CS.
Yuther11 do you have a pod-cast?Do you let it all out and try to help people? Atleast he tried and I think it was wonderful story…
