Hi, I am Kemi Awosile. For the next few months, I will be interning here at The Mother Church working on Graphic Designs for the Clerk’s Office. I will also be helping with podcast productions for TMC Youth. I graduated from Principia College with a major in Computer Science and a minor in Studio Art and French.
In the past eight years I’ve lived in Elsah (a little village in Illinois), Nigeria (my home country), England (also home), Spain, Germany, and Turkey! Now I am in Boston.
My decision to come here was pretty much an answer to my prayers for direction. Like I said earlier, I majored in Computer Science, and while I think it is a very useful experience to have had, I recently decided I would like to follow a more visually artistic career. I wanted to pursue a graduate degree in graphic design or multimedia production.
But I was unsure if I was prepared for grad school in Graphic Design with just an undergradminor. This worried me for a whileso I started thinking about two things that I believe to be true:
1. I reflect an Omniscient God. 2. My Father-Mother God never puts me in a situation that I am not fully equipped for.
I also realized that my true employment is always with God no matter what I’m doing, andso I was much more willing to say "Here I am, Lord, direct me to the place where I will be most useful and most expressive of my divine qualities."
While I was pondering the prospects of switching career paths, and listening for direction, I happened by a job fair and met with some people from TMC Youth. There were openingsfor internships that would help build my portfolio for grad school. Talk about my path being laid before me!
