Miranda Miller

by Miranda Miller

Hi! My name is Miranda and I’m the newest TMC Youth intern. I used to think I had somewhat of a unique name, until I found myself living with Katja, Annika, and Huguette (my 3 fabulous housemates). Now, I try to make my name sound more exciting by saying it with an enthusiastic Spanish accent. I’ve been living in Beantown for about a month now, working as an intern for The Mother Church’s Integrated International Planning Team. With a department name like that, you’d think we were all superheroes trying to make the world a better place, and you’d be right, minus the capes. But even if I were Bionic Woman, I wouldn’t tell you here.

The research I’ve been asked to do so far has been fascinating! I’ve been investigating why Christianity is growing faster in China than anywhere else in the world. There are multiple reasons, and what everyone should know is that China is transforming before our very eyes! Many Chinese are making a connection between morality and progress… and that’s great. I think people from all over the world can learn from that!

The very nature of this internship motivates me everyday. I am broadening my awareness as a church member, and developing a more panoramic view of the world. I get to work with some amazingly perspicacious and proactive people, who have already taught me a lot about what it takes to actually be an influence for good. At the same time this work is being done, many Asian countries are stepping into a more inclusive view of God and spirituality. At this point in my life, I don’t think I could have found a job that interests me more! Thank you TMC Youth, you’re my (super) hero!
