Hi, I’m Angela Ankomah-Boateng. I traveled halfway across the world from Ghana 3 years ago to attend Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. A week ago, I traveled halfway across the United States to intern here at TMC Youth.
I arrived in Boston in the evening on June 7th after a friend I was traveling with and I almost missed our flight. We left home on schedule, but encountered a massive traffic jam en route. When we finally made it to the airport, we only had half an hour until take off. I did the self-check in and weighed my luggage. Guess what? Both my bags where over 50 lbs. so I had to pack and distribute some of my belongings in my carry on.
We made our way toward security and prayed that the line would not be long. It wasn’t, but security started to carefully check my friend’s belongings with a wand. I remember exactly what I thought at the time, “Yeah, this is just what we need, something else to delay us more.” I was frustrated because I was afraid we were going to miss our flight. I kept thinking that these people had seen our boarding passes and they knew our flight was departing in 5 minutes. How could they be doing this to us?
Suddenly I realized, “How could I be doing this?” I’d been thinking all these negative thoughts and working myself up over nothing! It hit me that I had been trying to keep things under control, wanting everything to go my way. But truly, it is not my place to control. Divine Mind, God, is in control of everything and all I had to do was let myself follow the guidance of this Mind or Principle for me to feel at peace. I physically and mentally relaxed and knew that we could never be anywhere but in our right place and that everything was under God’s control.
We made it to the gate without a minute to spare. The gate attendant said, “You girls made it right on time.” It dawned on me that with divine Love’s guidance we would always be at the right place—at the right time—and nothing, not a traffic jam, heavy luggage, or extra security checks could prevent that!

Cool that you saw that you needed to change and didn’t wait for someone else to. I needed to hear that idea today.

i like that you realized that you had to get rid of your own negative attitude. way to go.
Thanks so much for sharing this story with us. I loved your willingness to acknowledge that God was in control of every detail of your trip to Boston.
What are you doing for your internship?
Do you enjoy it?
What a great challenge that you overcame to come study in the United States and all the way to working at tmcyouth.com. Thank you for sharing.
Hey, girl nice hearing your story of all the obstacles you had to encounter, but at the end, what God has planned for us, Nothing or no one can stop the unfoldment of good from happening in your life. Know this and claim it as your destiny in life. Lots of love.
That is the right attitude to know that, God, Good is always in control and none else. “Divine Love alone governs;” Let us continue to acknowledge this fact also knowing that Love’s law is always in operation.
This is good.
Good article and great inspiration. Next time just take the “trotro”. But it will be hours before you get to Boston. Stay blessed.
