Those of you who read my last blog know that I was led to Boston by listening to God. Before I had even started to look for jobs or internships, I was considering taking primary class. It’s an intensive two week course on spiritual healing. During the last school year, I did a lot of reading of The Christian Science Journal and the Christian Science Sentinel in hopes that I would find an article by someone who I could see being my teacher.

After an unsuccessful search (partially due to a lack of time), I admitted to myself that I was just not ready for class this summer. What I finally realized though, was that I was looking and yearning for spiritual growth. Working with TMC Youth and at the Mary Baker Eddy Library could not have been a better answer for my desire.

I spend 35 hours a week on the Christian Science Plaza and I always feel that I am in such a spiritual atmosphere. Everyone I’m working with is so supportive of one another, dedicated to their job, and the cause for which they work. I’m finding it easier to pray. I sure do pray more often than I do at home. This has made me aware that even though my days are long, I come home tired, and I am always busy, prayer can be worked into a hectic day.

You can use the moments you have to think, to think spiritually. I pray in the early morning as I walk the 15 minutes to work. If I get to work early, which I like to do, I try to read a small section of the Bible Lesson to give me something to think about that day. Then I pray at lunch outside for 45 minutes as I look at The Mother Church and listen to the chimes.

My job allows me to learn all I ever wanted to know about Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. I’m also learning about the people who knew and worked for her. And then before bed I read more of the Bible Lesson and something from Science and Health. While I know I still have a lot of metaphysical work to do for myself, I know I am more spiritually prepared for healing work.

Being in Boston this summer is just one more way I see proof of God’s work. He knows our needs before we even ask Him. And I’m trusting Him with my desire for class instruction. I know it will all work out in the best way possible.

What do you do on the plaza? I thought you worked in the library.

The Library is right on the plaza. When I am not in the buidling I am outside enjoying the activity on the plaza by TMC

What a great opportunity you have to learn about Mary Baker Eddy. Do you find that your appreciation has increased since you started the internship?

It sure has! Never before did I realize what a long struggle Mary Baker Eddy went through to give us Christian Science and all her wonderful writings.
