Newton

by Newton Ligale Lubuya

My name is Newton Ligale Lubuya and I am from Kenya, a country well-known for runners. Nearly every place I go, the first question people ask me is whether I run. I always reply with a yes. And when I run, I know that I draw my strength from divine Mind, God. I am a student at Principia College and I am currently doing an internship with TMC Youth. I work in the records management department.

My first flight to the U.S. was an experience that I will never forget. It took me two days to get to Principia College and I had to connect quite a number of flights. I flew from Nairobi to Dubai, then from Dubai to London, and then onto Cincinnati. The last flight was from Cincinnati to St. Louis. Oh my goodness! It was a long time to travel-a full 24 hours in the air-but I learned a lot.

I had to hold onto the fact that Mind is the source of all movement. He directs us in every direction and we often best feel this direction when we remain focused on God. I had never boarded a flight before and people had told me all kind of interesting and funny stories about how to be cautious when a plane takes off and lands. But I took it easy knowing that God’s plan is the best and He makes everything beautiful.

The Bible encourages us to “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” I put all my trust in God regardless of all the advice I’d been given. I had a deep understanding that God would see me through the entire journey to Principia College.

One of the challenges that I had to deal with was leaving my family, friends, neighbors, and my lovely country Kenya. It was hard to believe that I would be living thousands of miles away from home for a couple of years. I was so much attached to Kenya that I had to turn to God for divine inspiration and strength. I prayed and worked metaphysically with the thought that man is a compound idea of divine Mind. Man in his true entity can never be separated from the good that God bestows. It does not matter where we are as far as locations are concerned when we come to understand our place in God as children of Him. Physical locality doesn’t have to be a challenge to us anymore.

I told you about my travel experiences to the U.S. because it connects how I felt about coming to Boston for the TMC Youth internship. After spending two years at Principia, I developed a deep attachment to it. Leaving it for three months was something that I had to pray about, also.

When I applied for the TMC Youth internship, I felt confident that it was God’s direction. God’s thoughts are always good and His plan is peaceful, hopeful, and prosperous.

Sometimes we struggle a lot in order to fit everything into our daily schedules and we get caught up in all the details that come with it. To be more emphatic, youth go through a lot especially with the present age of technological advancement and having fun in every arena of our daily chores. It takes hard work and committed study in order to stay on top metaphysically. Practice and voracious study enhances our daily demonstration in living the divine Science as a daily lifestyle. It is not easy and it needs a lot of discipline and a very deep understanding of Mind as the source of all the inspiration we need.

That doesn’t mean that life is without joy. My first day at the TMC youth was a lot of fun. After doing all the paper work, we headed down for a metaphysical meeting and we focused on The Sermon on the Mount. We then played a very funny game called the four square. Later we took a tour of The Mother Church and its surrounding neighborhood. Boston has this amazing warmness that is very interesting. There is so much to explore and learn.

I headed on to my department which is records management the second day of work. I was introduced to all the workers and given some training of what records management department entails. There was too much that I had to absorb and remember and for a while I was afraid that I would not be able to keep up. I immediately remembered that Mind is the source of intelligence and that we draw remembrance and retention from Him. By the end of the first week I started being comfortable with my duties and I am learning a lot everyday.

I am so grateful to God for giving me this opportunity at TMC Youth, not only to learn but also to share what I have with the community as a whole. If you are considering doing an internship with the TMC Youth I strongly recommend that you submit your application as soon as you can. It is a very exciting and informative experience.

Quote - “There was too much that I had to absorb and remember and for a while I was afraid that I would not be able to keep up. I immediately remembered that Mind is the source of intelligence and that we draw remembrance and retention from Him.”

Glad you have settled into your native you. Other Synonyms for God, Mind found in Science and Health are All Substance, Intelligence. This means that as Mind’s reflection our very substance, what we are really made of, is intelligence. That’s the stuff we are made of. Not blood, bones, flesh and nerves, but intelligence. Huh! That’s a pretty empowering idea, don’t you think?
Lot’s of salaams from Nairobi. All is well here. HAKUNA MATATA!!
