Here’s a re-cap of the last few weeks of my internship. The Mother Church Sunday School put up some murals created by the kids. They’re beautiful! So I got to help with a team of people to decide where the mural should be hung. One is of a large tree, and the other is a representation of The Sermon on the Mount. You should come see them for yourself if you’re ever in the area! They’re impressive.

I’ve been working on a music project for Julia Wade which has been one of the coolest parts of this internship so far. I have to find contemporary Christian music that I like. Pretty awesome since this is what I love to do on my own time. It’s been interesting diving head first into the world of Christian music. The genre isn’t simply called “Christian.” It’s “Christian Pop-Punk,” or “Christian Soul.” There is just about every kind of music under the Christian category: Reggaeton, Screamo, Rap, Punk, Techno…you name it, they’ve got it covered. Who would’ve thought? My misconception was that Christian music was mostly Country, Folk, R&B, Gospel, or Rock.

For my first project, I made a list of 8 different artists, which included why I liked the specific songs. It included “Christian-oriented” songs by Sarah McLaughlin, Shelton Becton, Casting Crowns, Bethany Dillon, Caedmon’s Call, Klaus Kuehn, and Mindy Jostyn, If you’re at all interested in learning up on the Christian genre, I definitely recommend looking these artists up on Google.
