Patrick

by Patrick Bonsi

Hello!

Everyone, I am Patrick Bonsi and I just started an internship with TMC Youth and The Christian Science Monitor. I always love taking on new experiences—from, from traveling half way round the world for school, to going to spending a great summer with children at camp. As a junior in college I knew that at some point I would have to do an internship, and I was ready to embrace the adventure.

Moving into the Asher house here in Boston was quite a memorable experience. I felt very included from the beginning, from helping my roommates move furniture to going out for dinner with them my roommates on my first day at the house.

Tyler

by Tyler Maltbie

The last my Bible Lesson of the year has been edited, I’ve sat through my final Bible scholar meeting, and now my four weeks are up. I’ve contributed quite a bit to the my Bible Lesson product and have enjoyed seeing a product develop from beginning to end.

Among the numerous jobs and activities I was involved in I most enjoyed the editing work I did for my Bible Lesson. Many people put a lot of thought and time into developing and designing the extra features in each Lesson. Being able to review and refine these features, as well as suggest new ideas was valuable and rewarding. It will be exciting to see the work I’ve done arrive on the web for distribution! I am glad to know the writing, editing, and organizational skills I’ve developed during high school and college have not been for nothing. I’m now more prepared for the work force than I thought I would be at this point.

Tyler

by Tyler Maltbie

I’m Tyler Maltbie, and for an all too brief four weeks and two days this winter, I am working as a publishing production intern in the Bible Lesson Products Department of the Publishing Society. I’m back home here in Boston where I’ve temporarily traded in my backpack and mountain bike for a brown bag lunch and an hour-long commute. I’m making the most of my last winter break from Principia College.

The pool of possibility

Miranda

by Miranda Miller

I have grown quite fond of this big town they call Boston. Every aspect of my experience here-this internship, new friendships, city life, spiritual growth-has become very rich over these couple of months. I have to admit, when I first arrived after having spent a year living near the charming city of Chicago, I was a little skeptical. But the more I looked around me, the more I began to notice how much Boston has to offer.

It’s as if there’s this giant reflecting pool, full of opportunities to get outside of myself and grow into a new realm of understanding, but it’s up to me to decide if I want to just walk on by, dip my toe in, or jump right in. Fortunately, unlike the reflecting pool outside my office window on The Mother Church plaza, there aren’t any “No Swimming” signs or security guards at my pool-it’s fair game!

Nathan

by Nate Sharp

Hey. So, I’ve been here in Boston for about 5 weeks now working at my Bible Lesson and it’s been great. I love the people and the experience I’m getting from working with them and from what I am doing each day.

One thing that I’ve noticed and really appreciate is how the people I work with act and how their actions really express the idea of the whole man. Not only do they take on a huge variety of jobs, but they also express a wide range of qualities. They are very professional and demanding in what they expect of themselves and others, but they are also really funny and friendly. (more…)

The perfect balance

Kate Wells

by Kate Wells

I’m Kate Wells, and this summer I’m working as a legislative intern with the Committee on Publication. My home base is here in Boston, but I attend Principia College during the school year. I’m a double major in Political Science and Religion, and this fall I’ll be studying Spanish and Ecology in Peru for two and a half months.

Like a lot of the other interns, this job seemed to unfold pretty naturally for me. I was wrestling with what to do this summer, trying to find a good balance between financial responsibilities, a desire to be focused and useful, and a sense that I needed some time to refresh and do some of those things you always mean to, but never seem to get around to: read, sail, learn to cook, see old friends, etc. (more…)

The right choice

Nathan

by Nate Sharp

I’m Nathan Sharp and I‘m working as an intern for my Bible Lesson this summer. I am from Toronto (that’s in Canada!), and so, of course, I love hockey. Currently I’m going to Principia College. I haven’t declared a major yet, but business, economics, and physics are some possibilities.

When I first heard about the TMC Youth internship program, I heard that there were no more positions available, so I began searching for a job in Toronto. Near the end of school though, TMC Youth got back to me and lined up an interview with the people at my Bible Lesson. The interview went great and I got the job. By this point, though, I also had received a job offer in Toronto. It seemed like a pretty good opportunity, as well. I turned to prayer because I felt pressured about making the correct decision between the two. (more…)

by Michael Trevail

Buongiorno from the Christian Science Plaza!!!!

My name is Michael Trevail, and I’m currently TMC Youth’s newest intern for 2007. I started a week ago. I’ll be devoting my time to the Reading Room, Sunday School activities department, and TMC Youth. I’m working with such an amazing team from all three departments and everyone on the church plaza has been so welcoming to me.

I am currently a freshman at American River College majoring in liberal studies. My goal is to be a teacher. Before coming to TMC Youth, I worked at a private school, doing team building with the second through fifth graders in the after-school program. (more…)
