Kate Wells

by Kate Wells

Tragically, this is my last blog. It’s my last week working as a Legislative Intern at the Committee on Publication. I know everyone says this every summer, but I cannot believe how fast it went. You should have seen me after the first day of this job. I liked it, but I was sure it was going to be a long summer. And now bam, its August.

So for the next two days, I’ll be trying to wrap things up here, juggling the sheer heft of new projects and the rapidly approaching deadlines of old ones, until Thursday at 6:00. Then I catch the train up to New Hampshire to try to squeeze a summers worth of physical and linguistic training into a few weeks. It’s my semi-panicked preparation for a fall semester spent backpacking through Peru.

Paper or plastic?

Casey Fedde

by Casey Fedde

Paper or plastic? For here or to go? White or wheat? Everywhere I go, I am faced with decisions, and with every decision I am overwhelmed with indecisiveness. But since I came to Boston, I’ve learned that these little decisions of everyday life—while they may seem huge at times—have been easier to make. While I don’t consult God on what kind of bread to use for a sandwich, I do rely on Him for constant guidance. (more…)

Zinnia Madon

by Sonia Orwa

It took sometime, but now I can now officially say I am falling in love with the city of Boston.

Hence the Swahili title of my blog today: The good life in Boston. Four weeks ago, I was hesitant about whether I was in my right place. After some prayer, a sprinkle of openness, and a dash of spontaneity I was cured of my hesitation and finally began to enjoy the city, my new friends, and my internship. (more…)

Amy Farnsworth

by Amy Farnsworth

Hi, my name is Amy Farnsworth and I’m interning at The Christian Science Monitor this summer. For the next two months, I’ll be helping out on the business side of the Monitor as an online marketing intern. It’s something new for me and I’m excited to learn more since I’m usually on the editorial side. I’m not a stranger to Boston (I’ve been here for 3 years studying journalism at Emerson College), but working at the Monitor has been a dream of mine since I started attending Sunday School.

Journalism is my passion, and being a part of the Monitor’s journalistic mission is thrilling for me as an aspiring journalist and a Christian Scientist. (more…)

Angela

by Angela Ankomah

Hi, I’m Angela Ankomah-Boateng. I traveled halfway across the world from Ghana 3 years ago to attend Principia College in Elsah, Illinois. A week ago, I traveled halfway across the United States to intern here at TMC Youth.

I arrived in Boston in the evening on June 7th after a friend I was traveling with and I almost missed our flight. We left home on schedule, but encountered a massive traffic jam en route. When we finally made it to the airport, we only had half an hour until take off. I did the self-check in and weighed my luggage. Guess what? Both my bags where over 50 lbs. so I had to pack and distribute some of my belongings in my carry on. (more…)

Ebikiri Aboro

by Ebikiri Aboro

Hi everyone. My name is Ebikiri Aboro, and I am from Nigeria. Presently, I am a computer science student at Principia College, Illinois. This summer I am interning in Boston with TMC Youth as a PHP/MySQL Web developer.

Getting this internship with TMC Youth was an interesting and wonderful experience for me. As a junior in college, I felt the need to do at least one internship before my senior year of college. With this in mind, I started searching for summer internships. I posted my resume on several job finding sites. I also sent it out along with internship applications to several companies. (more…)

Casey Fedde

by Casey Fedde

Hey guys! I’m Casey Fedde, and I’m working as an editorial assistant intern for spirituality.com this summer. Back home in California, I attend San Jose State University where I am majoring in English with a minor in journalism. While it’s hard to leave family and friends behind, it is an amazing opportunity to get to work at The Mother Church. And I still feel that love and support from all my loved ones cheering me on from home.

I set out on my summer adventure to Boston with three bags of luggage—two just barely under 50 pounds each filled with clothes and necessities; the third, a mental bag filled with an overflow of spiritual ideas—and boarded the plane. As I clicked my seatbelt together and pulled it snug, the pilot announced that due to bad weather the flight was canceled. Discouraged that my trip started off with an unexpected delay, I gathered my luggage and searched for a comforting thought from my spiritual suitcase. (more…)

Kim Canuette

by Kim Canuette

I guess I should start with some introductions. I am Kim Canuette from small town North Carolina. I am a junior at North Carolina State University, majoring in History and English. This summer I am an intern in Special Projects for the Reading Rooms. I have been in Boston for about a week and have been having a blast working for the Reading Rooms and getting to meet so many new people. While I live in Raleigh for school, the place that I call home is a small farm in Eastern North Carolina. We moved next door to my grandparents earlier this year so that brings the total on the farm to me, my parents, grandparents, two brothers, five cats, two dogs, a beta fish, and about 60,000 chickens. It’s quite a place! (more…)
