Last winter break I was in New Jersey visiting family friends. While there, I visited the library in the Tenacre Nursing facility, where I
found a book, “The Gentle Art of Blessing: Lessons for living your spirituality in everyday life” by Pierre Pradervand. I was intrigued by the ideas that were shared by the author and by the testimonies included from people who had previously read the book. I now own a copy of the book.

One idea that I use the most is the definition that the author gave for “morning.” He defines it as freshness, openness, gratitude, inspiration, newness, alertness, expectation of good, wakefulness, fresh beginning, purity, threshold,(re)birth, joy, innocence, wonder. Knowing that each morning is new and a fresh beginning, I am filled with gratitude, inspiration, and joy; I find that I am staying mentally alert and keeping my thoughts of the day pure and open and I have a great expectation of good. This way of thinking about “morning” blesses my days.

Living in Boston is a blessing in and of itself. I have enjoyed every moment of my time at my internship and also on my own or with friends on the streets of Boston.

My internship at TMC has been very productive. I work with the Fulfillment Systems Department where I do all sorts of things. One thing that has been most interesting to learn is using Crystal Reports. I was able to work on a shipping slip that is now in use. That’s pretty exciting.

The last couple of weeks have been really great, too. I spent almost five hours each day with TMC Youth where I had the opportunity to make phone calls. :-). Yep! I know, my job is great.

I call it an opportunity because the people I dialed were people who “represent” the Christian Science movement in universities in the country. I talked to people from all over the U.S. and invited them to the upcoming CSO Summit over Labor Day weekend, as well as encouraged them to invite more people. I also spoke with a lot of the people who attended the last CSO Summit in Lebanon a year ago.

It was great to hear them express their appreciation for the Summit and their gratitude to me for calling to tell them about this year’s event. Most of them had not heard about it and were really excited. People who could not make it promised to encourage others to come because they believe it’s an event no one should miss out on. For me, this was a great experience-knowing that I was reaching out in my own little way to support Christian Science.

I have been visiting the reading room of the church of Christ Scientist, paying most of my reading attentions to some of the scripture as Mrs Eddy teaches it. As a stunned christian, there’s been times when I had questioned the existence of Christ, especially the times I had found myself in desolate situations. I started sharing some of my lifelong experiences with friends and acquaintances. As I bear testimony of what Christ offers if we layout our life and submit it to Him. I am very much impressed to find a fellow citizen of Ghana reaching out as you expressed it in your own little way to support and share some of the joy and pain with the Church.
