Dear Margaret,
I appreciate your thoughtful letter and I apologize for how long it has taken me to respond. There has been much to think about.
You said in your letter that if Christian Science seems nearest to
the truth we should try to follow it, even if we can’t prove it all
at present. I generally agree with this and have followed Christian
Science my whole life, accepting the areas of ambiguity and holes
in my understanding. But within the last year I have had trouble
practicing Christian Science with these gaps of proof and
understanding.

Hi Margaret,
Thank you for letting me email you with my thoughts and questions about Christian Science and where it fits into my life. This being my senior year in college, I think a lot about the future and where I want to go with my life. A big part of that is the question of whether Christian Science is something I want to include and focus on.
I have been extremely grateful to have been exposed to Christian Science because I think it has broadened the way I look at the world—inviting a spiritual view into my perception. Even at the end of college and while going to an extremely secular school, I am convinced that a spiritual discipline and focus is the best way to live one’s life and the truth. (more…)

During my time at the TMCYouth Spiritual Activism Summit in September, I got a new perspective on the concept of reflection. Not only as a result of metaphysical work, but also from experiences there.
Reflection was a persistent theme in the Bible Lesson leading up to the Summit weekend, so I thought and prayed about it deeply. Of course it was not an unfamiliar concept. But often when I see the “same old thing” in my study, I ask God, what new can I learn about this today?
This time around (God’s always got more up His sleeve), I realized that in order for me to see anything, such as a beautiful red rose in my yard, it has to be continuously reflecting light in all directions. The rose doesn’t possess or radiate its own redness or send it only to rose-lovers if perchance it’s having a good-petal-day. It simply reflects the red range of sunlight-waves which are constantly coming to it, because that’s the way it’s made.

Just this morning, animal magnetism was tempting me with an age-old suggestion, and at first I was buying it. (Let’s say here that one way to describe animal magnetism is as negative thoughts that aren’t from God, that try to masquerade as our thoughts even though they never are.)
