Just this morning, animal magnetism was tempting me with an age-old suggestion, and at first I was buying it. (Let’s say here that one way to describe animal magnetism is as negative thoughts that aren’t from God, that try to masquerade as our thoughts even though they never are.)
So, in other words, I was feeling like I wasn’t doing enough and I wasn’t inspired enough. As I was thinking about an upcoming meeting of new readers of Science and Health, I felt maybe my role would be a little hypocritical what had I healed for myself lately?!
Somewhat distraught, in the time just before the meeting, I turned to God for the sake of everyone at the meeting. I just wanted to know that God is always doing enough, always giving us enough, is always enough, is ALL! I humbly resolved to bow out of thinking that I had to add something to the meeting, and to trust God to be All and sufficient for all.
When I arrived at the meeting, the informal, family environment was so welcoming, it was wonderful. God’s love reflected in man was enough. Then, in the course of reading and discussing the weekly bible lesson together, I was so inspired. God’s word was enough. Next, I remembered and shared two very recent healings I’d had. This was followed by a silent realization of the fact that something else I’d been praying about for myself actually was getting better. Yes, God-inspired prayer is enough. Finally, many questions were raised, and a regular attendee commented that I explained them especially well that day. I knew who to credit for that. :o)
God truly is All and enough!! Why did I doubt? Why did I forget? Oh, right, that doubting wasn’t me. That was animal magnetism having a party in my thinking. That’s good to know, and I’m glad God’s allness and truth shut it up and kicked it out! Phew.
To top it all off, after the meeting I had the privilege of talking to a man who had only two years of formal education before starting his career in manual labor. Yet, after hearing a single Christian Science lecture, though he didn’t understand everything and could barely read, he was convinced this was the way God had put in front of him. I was so touched, so thankful to meet him and talk to him. With a full and convinced heart I could sincerely say that God would give him everything he needed sufficient understanding, direction and goodness and would open the way.
This really is one of my prayers for everyone in the world these days. Oh, that we may know (and thank goodness that despite of what animal magnetism tries to say, in reality we always do know) that God is All and that is enough. There is enough enough wisdom, substance, value, joy, goodness, satisfaction, honor for all in the world. God is enough for all the politicians, celebrities, “regular” people, oceans, forests, creatures all those we know and even those we have yet to discover. Thanks, God, for being good, enough and All!
