The Christ in my healing practice

the-christI’m a Christian Science practitioner and I wanted to know just what Christ was doing in my healing practice. I basically knew the distinction between Jesus and Christ. I’d been learning that Christ is the real man, the real identity of every one of us; our unbreakable relation to God; our oneness with God.

I was discovering that Christ is God’s divine message always present in consciousness. It reverses whatever is wrong in human experience and eventually replaces so-called human life itself with our true Life which is divine. I’d found out that Jesus was the individual, who allowed Christ to complete this transformation, giving a full example for you, me, and everyone. It was not the person of Jesus, but the Christ, that was and is the healer of disease and sin. But I wanted to know more. Since I wanted to know just what Christ was doing in my healing practice, I sat down and asked. I asked God. What I heard, I wrote down. Wow! (more…)

On the ride to Baguio

stomach-problemsAfter the Indonesian Summit, one half of the Summit team from The Mother Church had to take a red-eye flight to Manila on our way to the Philippines Summit. The night of our flight, we had dinner late, just before heading out to the airport, so we could rest on the 5ish hour flight, and skip the airplane food without going hungry. When the food trolley came by during the flight and the hostess asked if I wanted chicken or fish, as I said “Nothing for me, thank you.” I remember thinking, “If I eat anything at this time, it’ll feel like I have a rock in my tummy in the morning.” Well, we landed in the morning, and as we got off the plane I started to feel like I had a rock in my tummy, even though I hadn’t eaten! This was very inconvenient as I had another eight hour drive to get to Baguio City, where the Summit was to be held. (more…)

Susie Rynerson - Christian Science Operating in Madrid and Everywhere

by Susie Rynerson

Well, I’m baaaack….

Back in Boston, that is. What an amazing 2 plus years I had living in Spain. I cannot begin to describe how much I learned and grew during that time.

What I learned about God as infinite Love and Life is profound. What I learned about His capacity to reveal Himself to us is humbling, and I know I’ve only just begun to see what He is capable of, and what we are capable of when we yield to His presence and power.

The friends I made in Spain—from all walks of life—are treasures to me. Again, I cannot begin to describe what gifts they all are and continue to be. The new activities I took up, including kite surfing and swimming, are extremely fun. I certainly faced new challenges, such as learning a new language and culture, embracing elements that I loved but gently and kindly declining elements that didn’t suit me. I saw how different people can be, and yet how extremely similar we all are. I saw how unnecessary conflicts that arise because of superficial differences can be melted away by seeing that we are truly one “…universal family, held in the gospel of Love.” (more…)

Hello from Evan

Evan Mehlenbacher

by Evan Mehlenbacher

Hey, it’s great to be online with you! TMC Youth asked me to try my hand at blogging on their site, and I happily agreed. I look forward to interacting with you on topics that you care about.

As a Christian Science practitioner, I pray for people everyday who are struggling with all kinds of problems. Many want to lose weight, get along better with their boyfriends or girlfriends, improve their grades, conquer colds, build self-esteem, defeat depression, find a reason to live, break an addiction, heal a terminal disease, and a whole bunch of other things that would make this list too long to read!

I expect you have issues you’d like resolved in your life, too. Let me know about them. Let’s chat in this blog and look for some answers.

You might be wondering, “Who is this Evan guy, anyway?” So here’s a bit about myself. (more…)

Christian Science Practitioner in Spain

by Susie Rynerson Jostyn

Hi, my name is Susie Rynerson Jostyn and I am a Christian Science Practitioner living in the south of Spain. How did I get here? Well, to make a long story short, God is amazing and always has a larger and better plan than we do.

The summer of 2004, I was as wonderfully content. I was living in Boston, where I had attended college and grad school, lived, worked and played sports and music more years than anywhere else. I had established my practice over the past five years. I was volunteering in my church and community; I had many friends and was involved in multiple leisure activities I enjoyed. Practically every week I was saying,

I love my life, wow, God you are so great for unfolding this!!

I could have stayed like that indefinitely, but looking ahead I saw I would have a quieter contemplative period starting in September and a couple volunteer projects would end in January. God had cleared my schedule before I entered the practice, so I knew a change was coming. I knew it would be large and related to Christian Science. I asked God about it and the answers that came were that I should live life to the fullest and trust that everything would be a natural continuation of that. (more…)
